2014 / 2015 - Round 4 Wrap Up
Wyangala Dam – Wyangala Waters resort – Cowra
31st Jan saw the crew take our longest road trip yet in the summer series with a trip outback to the rugged, isolated and beautiful Wyangala Dam. For many this was a first on this expanse of waterway, reaching 2 ½ times the size of Sydney Harbour at it’s fullest but even at 45% it is an amazing amount of water with many rivers off the main dam to explore. Cowra turned it on with a weekend of sun, amazing blue skies and butter conditions with many taking their own boats and making it a 3 day weekend.
With tents spread along the bank providing great spectator viewing of the whole course, it was a casual affair with a surprising amount of riders, some making wyangala their first ride of the season. We had the local Rotary guys running a cracker of a BBQ for breaky and lunch and many locals stopping by to check out the action. Big Thanks to the local Cowra Guardian for providing us with media coverage and the local ski club who kindly lent us our course buoys for the event.
GRE Marine – Malibu Boats did their usual stella job in providing the best of their fleet for the WBNSW compettiors and ran the comp in conjuction with the Just Ride Tour and SurfGate promo, and had their booking sheet full of locals and families keen to ride or drive the malibu’s.
The day ran smoothly and finished early [for a change J ] and that then allowed time for families to get their own boats and go out on the water and explore, ride doubles with mates and the best thing of all having FUN on the water!!
Massive thanks to Kevey Watt for bringing his jetski and spending all day as our pick up driver. Scotty for spending the day behind the wheel, The boys for judging all day [you guys know who you are] and the parents for their help with making the day run as smooth as it did.
So to wrap up the words is we should definitely make Wyangala a must next season, everyone loved the fact they could take their own boats, ride together and relax.
Now to the Fianl stop of the comp season with Round 5 and State Titles 28th FEB – 1st MARCH weekend in Newcastle.
Thanks also to our ever supportive sponsors, Liquid Force, Jet Pilot, GRE Marine, Black Diamond, CWB Board Co, Cables Wake Park & Wake Mag.
We look forward to everyone attending our 'away' round 4 on the 31st Jan 2015 at Wyangala Dam, for information on accommodation and entries please email Nadine wakeboardnsw@gmail.com
